In keeping with district practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all students, staff and guests that five Calhoun High School students have lab-tested positive for COVID-19. After discussing the cases with impacted parents, reports indicate that three events led to multiple positives. Not all events were school-related. The students were last on campus last week. CCISD has reached out to faculty, staff and students who may have been exposed through close contact.
CCISD is now offering COVID testing for students and staff. For more information, please see the district website at www.calcoisd.org.
Please stay at home if a student/ family member has symptoms for COVID-19. Also, if a student or any individual in the home is waiting on COVID test results, please stay at home. A new Education Task Force has been created to provide guidance for schools in cases such as these. The Bexar County Region 8 public health authority will conduct an investigation by making contact with the individual and any “close contacts”. “Close Contact” is defined as direct exposure to infectious secretions such as being coughed on or being within 6 ft of an infectious person for over 15 continuous minutes.
Region 8 phone calls will have a (210) area code. If a student or household member begins to experience any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. We encourage students, staff or family members connected with Calhoun High School to please notify the school if a household member is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19.
Please notify our school by contacting CHS main office 361-552-3775 to report any COVID positive issues. We encourage you to contact your physician if you experience symptoms not typical for you.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the district office at 361-552-9728 or visit our website at www.calcoisd.org.
