COVID-19 testing for eligible students

Calhoun County ISD offering free COVID-19 tests for eligible students
Posted on 12/08/2020

Through a partnership between Calhoun County ISD, Texas Division of Emergency Management, and Texas Education Agency, the district is now authorized to provide free COVID-19 testing for students who attend school face-to-face at a Calhoun County ISD campus.

This testing service is completely optional, free and administered curbside by a trained nurse in PPE gear. It is important to understand that the tests are non-invasive, painless and the results are available within 15 minutes. The BinaxNOW tests utilize a one-inch nasal swab in the front area of the nostril. The process for testing with Calhoun County ISD is simple, painless, quick and free.

Requesting a test for your student is a two-step process:

  1. Call Calhoun County ISD Health Services at 361-551-2629 to make an appointment.
  2. Submit the required forms online: (There is a form for parents to provide basic information and their consent for the test. There is also a flyer that guides you through the pre-registration process.)

It’s that simple! Here is a one-page summary about the test and process for requesting a test

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Calhoun County ISD Health Services at 361-551-2629.

** It is very important that if an individual exhibits symptoms of COVID-19, then that individual should stay home from school. If you would like your child to be tested, please make an appointment from home, and remain home until your child's appointment time for curbside testing. Please, do not send your child to school while you wait on an appointment. **
