Notification of confirmed COVID-19 case at CHS
Posted on 10/01/2020

In keeping with district practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all students, staff and guests that a CHS student is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19The student was on the CHS campus Tuesday 9/29. CHS was informed late in the day on 9/30 resulting in immediate sanitation and E Misting of impacted areas.  On October 1, 2020, the campus administration and nurse conducted a thorough investigation and notified any “close contacts”. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her.

A new Education Task Force has been created to provide guidance for schools in cases such as these.  The Bexar County Region 8 public health authority will conduct an investigation by making contact with the individual and any “close contacts”. “Close Contact” is defined as  “direct exposure to infectious secretions such as being coughed on or being within 6 feet for a largely uninterrupted or sustained extended contact period throughout the course of a day of approximately 15 minutes”.

Region 8 phone calls will have a (210) area code. Close contacts will remain off-campus for up to 14 days to ensure they do not have the virus so that there will not be any further spread.
Students in self- isolation will remote into their Google-Classroom for virtual instruction, daily.
