Opt in for text messages from Calhoun County ISD
Posted on 08/26/2021

From time to time, Calhoun County ISD will have urgent information to share with the parents, or the emergency contacts that we have on file with the school. We use a system called "School Messenger" to deliver those notifications directly to the contacts we have on file (First day of school forms are important!) We have the capability to send phone calls, emails and texts, BUT we can only text you if you opt in for those texts. And during or after extreme weather, a text can reach you more quickly, securely, and reliably than a phone call.

To opt-in for SMS texting from Calhoun County ISD, simply text the word “Yes” to the number “67587”.

Here is a graphic of how to do this: http://p7cdn4static.sharpschool.com/UserFiles/Servers/Server_499301/File/News/SMS_Text_Opt-In_Flyer_67587%20(1).pdf

Please note that standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier could apply. This is why we are giving you the option to opt in. If you choose not to opt in for texting, the district is still able to send phone calls and emails to the contacts we have on file. But texting seems to work better in remote areas and during weather events, so we recommend for our families to opt in. This district will only send notifications that are urgent or emergency in nature. The campuses may utilize School Messenger for more frequent communication.

Now is as good of time as any to opt in for texts from Calhoun County ISD. If you have already opted in once, you do not have to do it again, as long as you have the same number. This is just a reminder for those who have not.

Please reach out to your campus if you have questions.
