2020-2021 Instructional Calendar updated
Posted on 06/09/2020

The Texas Education Agency has recommended that all districts consider starting the 2020-2021 school year earlier than usual, in anticipation of the potential for short term disruptions in instruction. As such, many districts have recently, or will soon be, sharing revisions to their previously-announced calendars.

On Monday, the Calhoun County ISD Board of Trustees adopted a revised 2020-2021 calendar with an earlier start date and days built into the calendar that can be used to accommodate short-term classroom, campus or district closures if needed.

These days are similar to inclement weather days and are indicated in red on the updated calendar. If not used, these days will become teacher/student holidays in the spring. Additionally, an earlier start date will allow students to return to a more typical, direct instructional model. Although remote learning was needed this spring, nothing replaces the quality of instruction a student receives from a classroom teacher.

The revised 2020-2021 calendar allows for 178 student days and 187 teacher days. The instructional year now starts on August 11, which is about a week earlier than previously announced.
