Tina Marxmiller, Calhoun County ISD teacher and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) volunteer, has been nominated for consideration into the state-level VFW Teacher of the Year recognition.

Tina was initially nominated into the competition by VFW Post 4403 and was recently selected to represent VFW District 24 in the state-level award competition.  State-level winners ultimately advance into a national award competition.

Tina is an outstanding 5th grade teacher at JR Elementary who volunteers regularly with VFW Post 4403 in Port Lavaca, Texas. Tina supports the VFW with fundraising activities, including selling refreshments and concessions at the hall and events.

Tina is passionate and instrumental in teaching her students about patriotism, the history of our nation’s flag and respect for all Veterans. Tina encourages her students to submit art and poetry for her school’s Veterans Day program. Also, Tina accompanied the JR Elementary Choir to their performance at the VFW Post 4403’s Veterans Day ceremony, and she hopes to make this choir performance an annual tradition. For the past two years, she has also assisted the VFW with their Voice of Democracy -”Patriot’s Pen” essay competition at Travis Middle School.

VFW Representative Manny Perez announced that Tina was selected to represent District 24 during her school’s Veterans Day celebration.

Thank you Tina for serving your students and community with patriotism!
