Seniors, you are required to have a CPR class in order to graduate.  There are many of you who have not met this requirement.  Ms. Day will have a CPR class this Friday, January 27 in the morning.  The class will begin towards the end of second period. Please listen for the announcement. Stop by and see the school nurse or email Ms. Day if you have questions about needing a CPR class.

Big news! Calhoun High is headed to New York City in Summer 2024!  Mrs. Garcia will be holding a parent meeting for families to learn more information on March 8th at 6:00 pm.  Please visit her classroom in W104 to receive information on how to attend!” 

Student Council will be hosting another Blood Drive on Wednesday, January 25th.  If you are 16 or older and would like to donate blood to save lives and work toward your red cord for graduation, please sign up for a time that is NOT DURING YOUR MAP TEST PERIOD and put your teacher's name in the notes section using the QR code on the posters in the hall or on Google Classroom.  If you are 16, you must have a signed permission slip.  Please see Mrs. Anderson (W203) if you have any questions or need a permission slip.

Juniors, you have an opportunity to take the SAT or ACT for free!  There is a form in your Google classroom.  Fill out the form by Friday.

Freshman and Sophomores—The deadline to register to attend the Education to Employment Summit at Victoria College is Wednesday, January 25th.  E2E Summit (Education to Employment)is a collaborative effort between Victoria College and University of Houston-Victoria to showcase educational pathways leading to rewarding careers available to our local area high school students in their own backyards.  If you are interested in attending this event, please sign up through the QR code in your Google Classroom.  Seats are limited.  Lunch will be provided. 

Class Wars Trivia is in full swing.  Yesterday’s question: the opening line of our Alma Mater is “All hail our Alma Mater, How proudly does she rule”.  Be sure to scan today’s QR Code to access the next question.  Answers are due by 8 am tomorrow morning.  Participation was low, and the Freshman are leading the Class Wars total.

We have a robot to build!  Robotics Club will meet on Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6 pm and on Sunday, from 1-5 pm.  Even if you are not a builder, we need you.  Make as many meetings as you can!

The Calhoun Sandcrabs obtained their first district victory defeating Rice High School 11 to 1.  Jefher Ramos scored 4 goals, John Moreno scored 2 goals, Jan Pablo Martinez, Ta Moo, Alberto Arias, Pietro Tremari and Hser Say scored 1 goal each for a total of 11 goals.  Congratulations SANDCRABS!

Congrats to the JV Boys Gold Golf team for coming in 4th at the Calallen Golf Invitational.  Team was lead by Cole Spicak, who brought home 5th place medalist.  The JV girls golf team came in 4th place also, led by Lyric Lopez who came in 6th place.

Congrats to the Boys Varsity Golf team for taking first place at the Sweeny Invitational golf tournament at The Wilderness in Lake Jackson.  The team wa led by Josiah Campos, who was first place medalist for the tournament.  Team consisted of Brock Billings, Jacob Nguyen, Treston Canales and Ayden Maddux.

Congratulations to the Sandies soccer on their 2 to 1 win over Rice Consolidated High School.  A strong Defensive performance by the Sandies kept Rice off balance and a 1st half score by Claire Flores with an assist by Alexandra Muniz and a 2nd half score by Anna Benavides assisted by Maggy Montenegro helped the Sandies to their first district win.

Tip for the day –During cold weather, use caution with space heaters.
