Happy Birthday to Mrs. Jacque Torres
On January 28th, the UIL Academics team traveled to Tuloso Midway to compete in their first invitational of the year. In Current Issues and Events, Dar Moo placed 3rd,Gabie Mesa placed 4th, and CJ Sanchez placed 6th. Their team placed first overall. In Computer Science, Seth Sandberg placed 2nd, Stacy Zhang placed 3rd, Leo Liang placed 4th, Cael Findley placed 5th, and Christian Graham placed 6th. Their team placed first overall. In Literary Criticism, CJ Sanchez placed 4th. In Science, Leo Liang placed second and Darcy Teehan placed third in the 9th grade division. In the 10th grade division, Stacy Zhang placed first. In the 11th grade division, Tammy Zhang placed 3rd and Jakob Novelo placed 6th. In the 12th grade division, Emanuel Flores placed 4th. Their team placed 1st overall. In Persuasive speaking, Nah Pah Doh placed third. In Informative speaking, Mason Rodriguez placed 1st and Sher Sher Ku placed 2nd. In Poetry, Emily Caylor placed 3rd. In Prose, Alice Chiu placed 2nd and Emily Caylor placed 4th. In Computer Apps, Eryka Menchaca placed 1st, Cheyenne Brumlow placed 2nd, and Jonathan Nguyen placed 3rd. In Accounting, Bryan Diggs placed 2nd, Jonathon Nguyen placed 3rd, Kayla Hall placed 4th, Natalie Zarate placed 5th, and Nayelli Degollado placed 6th. In Number Sense, Leo Liang placed third in the 9th grade division. Stacy Zhang placed 2nd in the 10th grade division. Tammy Zhang placed third in the 11th grade division. In Calculator, Doreen Luo placed 2nd and Tammy Zhang placed 3rd. In Mathematics, Stacy Zhang placed 2nd and Maci Bryan placed 5th in the 10th grade division. Doreen Luo placed 3rd and Tammy Zhang placed 4th in the 11th grade division. In Copy Editing, Sadie Lee placed third. In Ready Writing, Kashney Cantu placed 5th. In News Writing, Sydney Sun placed 2nd and Sadie Lee placed 3rd. In Spelling, Arin Lin placed 1st and Johnna Chen placed 5th. In Headline Writing, Sadie Lee placed 2nd. In Editorial Writing, Sadie Lee placed 2nd and Sydney Sun placed 3rd. In Feature Writing, Sydney Sun placed 2nd and Sadie Lee placed 3rd. The entire Academics team accumulated enough points to dominate that competition as sweepstakes winners! Congratulations, Sandcrabs, and good luck at the next meet!

Attention all Freshmen, Sophomores, & Juniors: CHS will be hosting a Course Fair on Tuesday, February 7th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the CHS cafeteria. Come by and check out the classes, extracurricular clubs, and sports that will be available to you next year.
Registration for next year will start in a couple of weeks. Make sure that you stop by the Course Fair, so that you know what your choices are.
Seniors, do not forget the following scholarship application deadlines: The TDECU scholarship deadline is 2-7-23. This is an online applications.
Seniors: Please go to your Class of 23 Google Classroom to nominate your Senior Class Favorites. We will use these on your Senior Day on May 19th to decorate. Your input is greatly appreciated. Nominations end Friday.
Tip for the day –If it is raining, keep a safe distance from the card in front of you. Wet roads make it more difficult to stop.
