Seniors, remember that your Jackson Electric Scholarship application is due to Mrs. McCarthy Vesely by noon today and your South Texas Farm & Ranch and F.W. Gross Alumni scholarships are due to her by noon March 9th.

Eight Calhoun Art students competed in the  Art Vase   regional finals, 7 students advanced to the Area finals, and one will be going to state finals in April,- Daven Garcia regional qualifier.- Mackenzie Deboard,- Ezperanza Martinez,-  Brean Kelly,- Belynda Cruz,- Tristan Speere, and- Lary Sin made it to the Area final. and Alexander Cosper qualified for the state final.  Please congratulate these students for their hard work.

Students: This is your final reminder to RSVP for the meeting being held tomorrow night to discuss our school’s trip to New York next Summer 2024. We will open enrollment at the end of the meeting, so please attend as we anticipate that spots will fill up quickly! We will cover itinerary details, safety, cost and everything that’s included.  MEETING: Wednesday March 8th , 2023 at 6pm W104 in Mrs. Garcia's Room.

Attention Class of 2026 officers... there will be a meeting in W403 at 7:35 Thursday morning. Please plan to attend...again. that's this Thursday morning in room W403. Thanks!

Anyone interested in trying out for the 2023-2024 Calhoun Cheer Team will need to have a parent attend a mandatory meeting Monday, March 20 immediately following the first day of practice. Information packets will be available in the CHS front office Tuesday, March 7. Please come by and pick one up this week.

There will be a mandatory parent meeting on March 22 at 5:30 in CHS cafeteria for any student who wishes to try out for Sandettes? Practice will be Monday March 27-FRiday March 31 from  4:30-6 in gym 1. Tryouts will then be on Saturday April 1 from 8-?

The Sandies suffered a tough loss to El Campo on Friday night. Claire Flores had the team's goal assisted by Ehther Htoo. Mileidy Anzaldua led the team in steals with 6 followed by Maggie Montenegro with 5 and Shayla Nolasco and Alyssa Padilla with 4 a piece. The Sandies host Columbus on Tuesday Senior night in their final home game of the season and would appreciate your support.

The Rotary Club of Port Lavaca is hosting their annual speech contest. It's a great opportunity to earn scholarship money.  See Ms. Cline in E407 for information.

This is Spring fling week here are the themes: Wednesday-animal day-wear your favorite animal printer (tiger print or a print with an animal, crab, flamingo, etc.  Thursday is beach day-wear your Hawaiian print, sorts, bright colors or favorite happy shirts.

Seniors!  Student Council is already working to plan your Senior Day.  One of the traditions is to put together a slide show of your baby/toddler pictures.  Please email a copy of your picture along with your name to [email protected] by March 31st.  We want to make sure that everyone is included in the slideshow.  Check Google Classroom for this information.

Please keep buying bracelets to support Hunter, McCoy and Jacob. Bracelets will no longer be sold after Wednesday. See Mrs. Anderson or Coach Spencer to purchase.

Seniors, there are only 2 ½ more school days left to pick up scholarship packets from the front office.  Do not wait until the last minute to get your packets, work on your FAFSA or request your transcript from Mrs. Hermes.  Time is ticking.

Tip for the day –When traveling for spring break- always carry a map in the event you travel through areas without cell phone reception and never, ever drink and drive.
