Seniors, go vote now for senior favorites on Google classroom class of 2024.

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS!   Did you earn STAAR Late-In? Check your email at this time to find out.  If you did not receive an email, and feel there may be an error, please come see Mrs. Cardwell or Mrs. Kohutek in the Annex ASAP.

This weekend the UIL Academics team traveled to West Oso to compete at their district competition this weekend. In Spelling, Arin Lin placed 1st and Mariana Quiralte placed 2nd. Their team placed first overall. In Science, Stacy Zhang placed 1st, Leo Liang placed 2nd, and Darcy Teehan placed 3rd. Stacy received top chemistry and physics while Darcy received top biology. Their team placed first overall. In Computer Apps, Christian Graham placed 1st, Natalia Zarate placed 2nd, and Jonathan Nguyen placed 3rd. In Accounting, Jonathan Nguyen placed 1st, Jack Graham placed 2nd, Natalia Zarate placed 3rd, and Taylor Creager placed 4th. Their team placed first overall. In Copy Editing, Coral Jones placed 3rd and Sadie Lee placed 5th. In News Writing, Sadie Lee placed 3rd and Brilee Crittenden placed 4th. In Feature Writing, Brilee Crittenden placed 4th, Sadie Lee placed 5th, and Sydney Sun placed 6th. Their Journalism team placed 3rd overall. In Ready Writing, Jakob Novelo placed 3rd, Sadie Lee placed 5th, and Celeste Kwi placed 6th. In Calculator, Doreen Luo placed 1st, Stacy Zhang placed 2nd, Tammy Zhang placed 3rd, and Derrick Chu placed 4th. Their team placed 1st overall. In Computer Science, Stacy Zhang and Christian Graham tied for 1st place, Cael Findley placed 4th, and Emilio Ortiz placed 5th. Their team placed 1st overall. In Literary Criticism, Allie Chiu placed 1st, Gabby Mesa placed 5th, and Brilee Crittenden placed 6th. Their team placed first overall. In Math, Stacy Zhang placed 1st, Leo Liang placed 2nd, Doreen Luo placed 3rd, Tammy Zhang placed 4th, and Derrick Chu placed 5th. Their team placed first overall. In Social Studies, Sloan Gaines placed 6th. In Number Sense, Stacy Zhang placed 1st, Leo Liang placed 2nd, and Tammy Zhang placed 4th. Their team placed first overall. In Persuasive speaking, Mason Rodriguez placed 3rd. IN Prose, Alice Chiu placed 1st. The Speech and Debate team placed 3rd overall. Congratulations to all regional advancers and good luck on the 26th when you travel to Texas A&M Corpus Christi for competition.  ALL DISTRICT WINNERS, PLEASE WEAR YOUR SHIRTS AND BRING YOUR MEDALS ON THURSDAY! WE WILL BE TAKING PICTURES DURING HOMEROOM. 

Calhoun Esports has officially qualified for the Vanta Esports League playoffs in 2 Esports. Calhoun Esports Rocket League has qualified and will play on Tuesday at 4:45. Players include Laith Moore, Bobby Castillo, Dominic Garcia, Emilio Ortiz, and Jaxon Burris. Owen Mitchell has qualified for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and will play Thursday at 4:45. This is a huge accomplishment for our first year as a program and we appreciate all of the support!  Our matches will be live streamed via Twitch.tv/calhounesportscg 

Congrats to the following young ladies for their achievements 2024 Sandies All District Soccer Superlative-1st team Utility player of the year-Mileidy Anzaldua, All District 1st team-Jaeleigh Campos, All District 2nd team-Claire Flores and Dulce Morales, All District Honorable Mention- Ashlynn Maldonado, Jennifer Gallegos, Ella Vazquez, Addyson Rangel, Kamila Ruiz, and Bianca Rodriguez, 2024 Sandies Academic All District- Illeana Lara, Jaeleigh Campos, Ella Vazquez, Bianca Rodriguez, Claire Flores, Delilah Dowell, Kayleigh Perez, Daisy Guerrero, Isabella Escobedo, Haley Torres, Ashlyn Maldonado, Nayelli Vargas, Natalie Barajas, Vianney Mendoza, Dulce Morales, Addyson Rangel and Valeria Marmolejo.

Student Council is hosting our LAST blood drive of the year on Monday, April 22.  Please help us save lives by signing up to donate if you are 16 or older.  If you are 16, you must get a permission slip signed by your parents each time you donate.  You can sign up to donate and print a permission slip on your Google Classroom or see Mrs. Anderson in E206.

It's almost time for Prom. Prom tickets will go on sale starting Monday, April 8 during all 3 lunches. The cost for tickets are $25 each. They will be on sale also on Thursday, April 11th & Friday, April 12th during lunches and resume the following week. CHS Seniors will not have to pay for their tickets, they are free but if you bring an outside date you will have to pay for that ticket.  Due to STAAR testing they will not be on sale every day but you can stop in to Mrs. Gossett's office to get one. Everyone must have a ticket to enter into Prom. If you have a date who does not attend our school, you must fill out a Guest Permission Form & it will need to be turned into the front office for approval. Any questions regarding tickets or sales, get with Mrs. Gossett. 

STAAR testing dates are English 1-April 9th, English 2-April 10th, Biology-April 16th, US History-April 18th and Algebra-April 23rd.

The team from SSR Letter Jackets will be on campus tomorrow from 11:45 – 1:10 at the Calhoun High School Main Gym to measure for letter jackets, and to take up order forms and payments. All directions on how to order your jacket are in your packet. Please pick up a packet from your coach, director or sponsor if you have not already done so. 

Tip for the day-Practice safety while driving, don’t attempt to retrieve items that fall to the floor.

Teachers, please check the ISS Spreadsheet and add work for your students.  Homeroom teachers, please check the Tutorial Spreadsheet at this time and send students to their teachers.
